Understanding usage limits
Most features in WebGPT have daily usage limits that depend on your subscription plan. Understanding how these limits work helps you plan your workflow and make the most of your plan.
Daily limit resets
Daily usage limits reset at 00:00 UTC every day. This means the reset happens at the same absolute time regardless of where you are located. For reference:
- 00:00 UTC = 7:00 PM Eastern Time (previous day)
- 00:00 UTC = 4:00 PM Pacific Time (previous day)
- 00:00 UTC = 1:00 AM Central European Time
- 00:00 UTC = 2:00 AM Israel Time
After the reset, all your daily counters go back to zero and you can use each feature up to your plan's daily limit again.
Content autopilot limits (daily runs)
Content autopilot limits work differently from other daily limits. Instead of a simple "uses per day" counter, Content autopilots use a daily runs limit. This number represents the total number of times your bots can execute per day across all active bots combined.
The number of daily runs a bot uses depends on its frequency setting (timing). A bot set to run every hour uses 24 daily runs, while a bot set to run once per day uses just 1.
For example, if your plan allows 24 bot runs per day:
- You could have 1 bot that runs 24 times per day
- You could have 4 bots that each run 6 times per day
- You could have 24 bots that each run once per day
- Any combination that totals 24 runs per day or fewer
This gives you flexibility in how you distribute your bot capacity across different automation tasks.
Unlimited articles on Independent plans
All Independent plans (Starter, Basic, Pro, and Advanced) offer unlimited daily articles. There is no cap on how many articles you can generate per day. Since you pay the AI provider directly for token usage on these plans, the only practical limit is your AI provider's rate limits and budget.
The Junior Starter plan has a limit of 6 articles per day, since AI costs are included in the subscription price.
Usage indicators
WebGPT displays real-time usage indicators on every feature page that has a daily limit. These indicators show you at a glance how much of your daily quota you have used and how much remains.
Color coding
Usage indicators use a color system to communicate your remaining usage at a glance:
| Color | Meaning | When it appears |
|---|---|---|
| Blue | Normal usage | You have more than 3 uses remaining. Everything is fine — keep working normally. |
| Yellow | Running low | You have 3 or fewer uses remaining. Consider spacing out your remaining uses or waiting for the daily reset. |
| Red | Limit reached | You have used all of your daily quota. The feature's action button is disabled until the next daily reset at 00:00 UTC. |
| Green | Unlimited | Your plan has no limit for this feature. An infinity symbol is displayed instead of a number. |
Where indicators appear
Usage indicators are shown on the following feature pages:
- SERP search — Shows remaining search queries for the day
- WordPress scraper — Shows remaining scrape operations for the day
- Trusted sources search — Shows remaining source searches for the day
- Article creation — Shows remaining articles for the day (only on plans with article limits)
- Picture search — Shows remaining image searches for the day (within the article creation flow)
- Content autopilots — Shows remaining concurrent bot runs for the day
- FAQ generator — Shows remaining FAQ generations for the day
- Theme builder — Shows remaining theme downloads for the day
- AI images — Shows remaining image generations for the day (only on plans with image limits)
Junior vs. Independent plans
Choosing between the Junior and Independent plan categories is one of the most important decisions when subscribing. Here is a detailed comparison to help you decide.
Junior plans
- AI included — All AI processing costs are bundled into the $19/month subscription fee. You do not need to sign up for any AI provider accounts or manage API keys.
- Simpler setup — Get started immediately after subscribing. No external configuration required.
- No chatbots — AI chatbots are not available on Junior plans. If you need AI-powered chatbots embedded on your websites, you will need an Independent plan.
- Lower usage limits — Daily limits are more conservative (e.g., 6 articles/day, 3 SERP searches/day) since AI costs are covered by the subscription.
- Best for — Beginners, casual users, or anyone who wants a simple all-in-one solution without managing external accounts.
Independent plans
- Bring your own keys — You connect your own API keys from OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, DeepSeek, or Grok. AI usage costs are billed directly by the providers to your own accounts.
- Full feature access — All features are available, including AI chatbots for building AI-powered assistants on your websites.
- Higher usage limits — Significantly more generous daily limits across all features, with unlimited articles.
- More cost-effective for heavy usage — While you pay for AI tokens separately, the lower subscription cost combined with direct provider pricing often results in lower total costs for frequent users.
- Choice of AI providers — Use any combination of supported AI providers. Switch between models based on quality, speed, and cost for different tasks.
- Best for — Power users, agencies, businesses, and anyone who generates content frequently or needs chatbot functionality.
Trial information
WebGPT offers a 7-day free trial on two plans: Junior Starter and Independent Starter. The trial is designed to give you a full, unrestricted experience of the platform before committing to a paid subscription.
What the trial includes
- Full feature access — During the trial, you have access to every feature included in the plan you selected. Nothing is restricted or limited beyond the plan's normal daily usage limits.
- No charges during trial — You will not be billed for the subscription during the 7-day trial period. However, if you are on an Independent plan and using your own AI API keys, you will still be charged by the AI providers for token usage.
- Payment method required — You need to add a payment method (credit card) when starting the trial. This is to ensure a seamless transition to a paid plan if you choose to continue after the trial.
- Cancel anytime — If you decide WebGPT is not the right fit, cancel before the trial ends and you will not be charged.
What happens after the trial expires
If you do not cancel, your trial automatically converts to a paid subscription at the plan's monthly price. If you cancel during or let the trial expire without subscribing:
- Your account status changes to "Trial Expired"
- You lose access to most features and are redirected to the billing page
- Your data is fully preserved — nothing is deleted
- You can re-subscribe at any time to regain full access
Subscription status codes
Your account can be in one of several subscription states. Here is what each status means and what you can do:
| Status | Description | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Not Active (0) | You have just created an account and have not selected a plan yet. | Go to the billing page and choose a plan to get started. |
| Trial Active (10) | You are currently in a free trial. Full feature access is available. | Enjoy the platform! Make sure to decide before the trial ends whether you want to continue. |
| Active (11) | Your paid subscription is active and in good standing. | Nothing needed. All features are available. |
| Trial Expired (1) | Your 7-day trial ended without converting to a paid plan. | Visit the billing page and subscribe to a plan to restore access. |
| Cancelled (2) | You cancelled your subscription. Access continues until the end of the current billing period. | If you change your mind, re-subscribe from the billing page. |
| Payment Error (3) | A payment attempt failed due to an expired card, insufficient funds, or other issue. | Update your payment method on the billing page to restore access. |
Upgrading and downgrading
You can change your plan at any time from the Billing page.
Upgrading your plan
When you upgrade to a higher-tier plan:
- The new plan and its higher limits take effect immediately
- You gain instant access to any additional features included in the new plan
- The price difference is prorated for the remainder of your current billing cycle
Downgrading your plan
When you downgrade to a lower-tier plan:
- Your current plan remains active until the end of the current billing period
- The lower-tier plan takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle
- Make sure your usage will fit within the new plan's limits before downgrading
Tips for choosing a plan
- Start with a trial — If you are new to WebGPT, start with the Junior Starter or Independent Starter trial. This gives you 7 days to explore without any financial commitment.
- Independent plans are better value for frequent users — If you generate content daily or use multiple features throughout the day, the higher limits on Independent plans (plus unlimited articles) will serve you much better than the Junior Starter's more conservative limits.
- Consider your team size — If you have more than 3 team members, you will need Independent Basic (5 users) or higher. Check the user limits before choosing a plan.
- Need chatbots? Go Independent — AI chatbots are only available on Independent plans. If embedding AI chatbots on your website is important to your use case, you need to be on an Independent plan.
- Monitor your usage — Use the usage indicators on feature pages and the Usage History tab in Account Settings to understand your actual usage patterns. This data will help you decide if your current plan is sufficient or if you should upgrade.
- You can always change later — Do not overthink the initial choice. You can upgrade, downgrade, or switch between plan categories at any time from the billing page.
